Introduction to Sourdough Bread
The scent of bread is the fragrance of all fragrances; it is the primal fragrance of our earthly life, the fragrance of harmony, of peace and of home. - Jaroslav Seiffert, 1984 Nobel Laureate in Literature
Have you always wanted to learn to bake bread at home? Are you curious about what makes a sourdough loaf more nutritious and delicious? In this workshop we will start right at the beginning with how to maintain a starter, and use those wild yeast and bacteria to bake bread. We will go through the basics of sourdough fermentation- how to maintain a starter to harness the power of natural fermentation leavening flour and water into bread. We’ll mix, shape, and then… score and bake proofed loaves so you see in just 2 hours, the entire process, which normally takes anywhere from 12-36 hours.
The LMNOP bakers will make sure you will have your hands in every step of the sourdough process. You'll leave with recipes, tips, and the confidence to bake delicious homemade bread at home, and of course, freshly baked sourdough bread.
Please keep in mind you will be in a production facility, and pull back long hair, wear close toed shoes for your protection. Hand/wrist jewelry should be left at home if possible- your hands will be in dough, keep the bling clean! Aprons we have at the shop for you to use
LMNOP coffee, tea, and light bites will be provided.
Please triple check your dates and availability before booking. Refunds possible 1 week in advance, no refund if you cancel 48 hours before class. Thank you for your understanding.
